I graduated from The University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada in 2006 with a BSc. in Biological Sciences, specializing in Food and Nutrition. I am a registered member of the Kenya Nutritionists and Dieticians Institute. I enjoy empowering people by interpreting the scientific evidence of nutrition in health and disease into practical terms of food and what it means for them on a day to day basis.

I worked as a Clinical Nutritionist at The Nairobi Hospital, Nairobi, Kenya for 3 years whereby I worked closely with medical staff in recommending therapeutic diets to patients and monitoring administration of enteral and parenteral feeds.

I have since been self-employed and consult patients on individual basis. Most clients are referred to me by doctors I have worked with. I provide nutrition intervention to clients with diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol and other chronic diseases. I produce diet literatures and regimes, especially for those seeking a weight loss plan. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, most of my consultation sessions are virtual but I also conduct home visits for geriatric or enteral/parenteral nutrition intervention. I then schedule regular follow up sessions with all my clients to monitor their health progress.

I also carry out nutrition awareness talks and projects at schools and community centers on various topics related to the major chronic illnesses currently affecting the population at large.

One of the main reasons for launching this website is to be more accessible to individuals with a busy lifestyle, who seek nutritional intervention but find it challenging to take time off from work to consult with a nutritionist. I will be more than glad to correspond via email about your specific health needs to ensure that I am able to provide you with the nutritional advice you require. For further follow up and if you prefer, I can arrange to see you in person or schedule an online session. This will allow time for an in-depth discussion on your current lifestyle, medical history and dietary regimens relevant to your condition and how they can be applied individually to you.

Besides the popular continental and western food types, I am also very familiar with the local Kenyan and Indian dishes. I can therefore design a meal regime tailored to suite your personal and cultural preferences.

I am aware that information alone is not enough for individuals to make changes. Facts are usually needed. My approach is to facilitate a process in which YOU find and put into place YOUR solutions. I do not advocate radical weight loss meal plans and impossible diets but a practical approach which enables you to easily mould my recommended regime into your meal pattern be it at home, on holiday, at a restaurant or a friend’s party.

Who is a Clinical Nutritionist?

A clinical nutritionist is a professional who has studied the relationship between food and the well-
being of the body. He or she is an expert in the science of nutrients and how they are digested,
absorbed, transported, metabolized, stored and discharged by the body.
Besides studying how food works in the body, clinical nutritionists are also interested in how
external factors, such as the environment, affect the quality and safety of foods and how these
factors influence health and disease in people.

What is a healthy diet?

The optimal diet for improving health has to be individualized to meet your unique needs. Our food
needs are influenced by many factors including age, gender, body size, pregnancy, and health.
As a clinical nutritionist, I can help you determine what type of diet is best for your particular needs.
